Data Vault Modelling & Certification (Cdvdm)

21-23 March, 2018, Melbourne

DAMA Australia Members will receive 10% off the current price, get the special DAMA Australia discount code from the Members Area here

The Data Vault is a hybrid design methodology for enterprise scale data integration platforms, architected specifically to address the challenges of today’s complex data landscape. It does this not by any great novelty, but by relying on a few very basic premises and a rigorous adherence to design principles. Using the Data Vault approach results in data platforms that are agile, scalable and resilient to change. Data Vault modelling is rapidly becoming the new modelling standard for the data warehouse. Over 1,500 major international organizations are applying DV modelling techniques today.

The increase in the amount of data available to organisations has no real precedent in commercial history, allowing them to understand their business, their customers and their markets to ever greater levels of detail. However, to be able to leverage this wealth of information a robust approach to data management is crucial. Success will be defined not just by an organisation’s ability to derive value out of its data, but also by how quickly it can adapt to change – change in operational systems, change in technology and (perhaps most importantly) change in the organisation’s information needs.

The Data Vault is a hybrid design methodology for enterprise data integration platforms, architected specifically to address the challenges of today’s complex data landscape. It does this not by any great novelty, but by relying on a few very basic premises and a rigorous adherence to design principles. Using the Data Vault approach results in data platforms that are agile, scalable and resilient to change.

To gain these benefits the organization will need to commit to both EDW program level factors as well as specific data vault modelling patterns, standards and methods. The Certified Data Vault Data Modelling course (CDVDM) will guide you through these modelling patterns, rules and methods to prepare you for successful application of the Data Vault design methodology in your organization.

Now in 2018 we see how Data Vault, and the underlying Ensemble Modelling Pattern, can be successfully applied to Big Data deployments, Streaming applications, and Blockchain fabric initiatives. The foundational Ensemble Logical Model (ELM) provides the framework for understanding the enterprise data asset independent of the physical architecture.

We look forward to seeing you in the classroom!

Advanced Data Vault Modelling Seminar & Lab

19-20 March, 2018, Melbourne

DAMA Australia Members will receive 10% off the current price, get the special DAMA Australia discount code from the Members Area here

We are proud to present the Advanced Data Vault Modelling Seminar & Lab for the first time in Australia! It offers the next level beyond the Certified Data Vault Data Modeller course, and consists of two (2) intensive days of interactive modelling and group case analysis. It has been redesigned from the ground up in 2017 to address the biggest challenges that data modellers face in the data warehousing space. This event provides the unique opportunity to leverage decades of Data Vault modelling experience from around the world. It provides a venue for connecting with other modelers to share experiences, ideas, models, challenges, discoveries, and to work together towards a common better understanding of ensemble modelling.

During this seminar we focus on providing participants with a deeper understanding of the various options available within the Data Vault Ensemble modelling approach. It follows an example-driven approach based on over a dozen real-life use cases, driven by a business case and worked out into practical detail. Through interactive group analysis and discussions, and by drawing on the experiences of the students in the class, the various alternatives are uncovered, considered, often ranked, and ultimately classified and categorized based on best practice considerations, pros & cons, and how appropriate they might be given the specific business scenarios.

This course is designed for data modellers, data architects, information modellers and other data warehousing and business intelligence professionals who work with the design of conceptual, logical or physical data. Ideally attendees are already CDVDM certified, but students attending this course should at least be comfortable with the Data Vault modelling approach and the broader concepts of Ensemble Modelling.
